3/12 - In Praise of Our Youth

. Posted in 2013 Lenten Readings

"For I know the plans I have for you" declares the LORD, "Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." [Jer. 29:11]

Since I retired from teaching  at Wachusett Regional, I am often asked how I felt the kids of today were different from kids of previous years.  The students of today are more focused, more in touch with the world, and more involved in  work, sports, the internet, cell phones, texting,... and school and homework often come second, third, or not at all.  Violence, bullying, and drugs threaten their daily routines.  More than ever, they need the support of their parents, family, friends and church.  However, you only have to come to church to witness the self discipline, motivation, involvement and character of our youth.   They are terrific students, well behaved, are a regular witness to our church and community, and will always greet you with a warm smile.

Let Us Pray:  Dear heavenly Father, thank you for our families and the wonderful youth that make up these families.  Guide them to continue to be disciples of God as they grow into young adults.  Amen
